I have a few questions about these scenes that got deleted that I saw ppl posting about...
a.) how many scenes were deleted, and what were they about?
b.) why were they deleted?
c.)what was the importance of the scene-if there was any.
d.) When were these scenes supposed to be shown i.e. beginning, middle, end of the movie? after a particular scene so on and so forth.
okay I have another question, but it's not about the deleted scenes
I heard that the book which was used for the movie(duh, lol) was based on Nicholas Sparks wife parents, and so my question is...If that film/book was based on his in laws, did Noah and Allie REALLY (in real life) die together as in some kind of miracle or was that just made up to add more emotinal sentiment into the novel and the film.

I'd come upon two online sources; one stating thirty deleted scenes, while the other stated over forty. However, the number of scenes that was deleted is still unknown (online sources are not always trustful).
2. Many scenes deleted was to suit the rating of the movie, which was rated PG 13 (some scenes may be inappropriate for children under the age of 13). PG 13 is for brief sexuality. If the movie contains any nudity, it will automatically have a rating of R (Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian) or NC 17 (No one under 17 admitted). If the rating is R or NC 17, it may loose many viewers, and they did not wanted to take the risk. The deleted scenes might have been to inappropriate for PG 13. Therefore, the scenes were excluded.
3. It's a bit difficult to tell the importance of the scenes. I guess it's mainly to reflect the intense love that Allie and Noah still have for each other after years of each other's absence.
4. Lol... can't answer this. I guess you have to see the image stills and stir ideas yourself.
5. Below is a simple passage from the novel:
Q: What is the inspiration for this book? Is it based to any extent on your own experiences or the experiences of those you know?
Sparks's reply: The Notebook was originally inspired by the story of my wife's beloved grandparents. They had a truly magical relationship, one that withstood the test of time and circumstance. At the time I'd met them, they had been married for over sixty years and I remember marveling at how much they still seemed to care for each other. The Notebook attempts to describe such a love.
With that said, The Notebook is a novel, not a memoir. Many changes were made regarding their story, in order to make the novel more universal, while staying committed to my oringinal intent.
So... you draw your conclusion in Sparks's reply . Hope that helps.

Thanks Simply Luscious you're answers helped alot. d**n I didn't know there was so many deleted scenes. I hope they add them onto the DVD, my friend was telling me about the bath tub scene and the kitchen scene and I was a little disapointed they didn't show it. But the movie was and still is a perfect example of a timeless classic romantic movie.

Here's hoping some of them will be on the DVD when it comes out (i heard someone say October?) ..unlike the cheap ass editors of AWTR which had 36 deleted scenes and didn't care to share ANY with us wanting to see them .. still bitter about that haha. -ch
