Just wondering, because I was reading some reading circle questions that Warner books put on the official website about the book. Would you have felt differently about Allie going to see Noah if she had already been married to Lon? Basically, do you think it would've been wrong, or still perfectly fine? Would that change your perspective of her? Just wondering I dunno, for me, it would've portrayed Allie more so as a tramp, haha...because she would've been leaving her husband and going to have sex with another guy...even if it WAS Noah. I don't know...you guys?

Hmm I dont know, I mean in a way I would have been fine with it since it she was going to be with Noah, the love of her life, but yeah it kind of would have made her more of a tramp:p is she had of been married

yeah, i think it would make a huge difference if allie had been married to lon when she saw noah. i mean, she DID give lon her word. cheating on a guy after marriage is somehow worse. marrying lon takes her too far into the game to go back.. so to speak.

Yea i know.. she did vow to marry lon.... so it would be wrong if she got back together with noah.. she would be having an affair.. thats bad because it didnt come around very often in that little town of theirs.. i mean if ppl found out in their town.. they would be the town laughingstock..i mean it wouldnt look right...

I don't think the story would have been the same. I think that if Allie had been married to Lon, and then spent a couple days with Noah, that she still would have honored her commitment to Lon, and returned to him in the end, and the story would have been more of a tragety, like The Bridges of Madison County. It just would not be the same thing in my opinion.

hmmm... good question, i dont find it much of a difference from being engaged but isn't it a "sin" for her to sleep with another guy if she's married? cause she's like commiting adultery. well, being engaged is perfect, because if lon was just dating her, it wouldn't make her decision quite as hard as it was and if they were married, well, as i explained above.

For me, things would have been totally different. Marriage is sacred and binding, and when people break those vows, it disgusts me. The story would have lost some of its sweetness and innocence, and I wouldn't have respected the characters as much. And yeah, Allie would have been kind of trampy...sleeping with both guys...Nicholas Sparks has commented several times that he won't write about adultery, because he is so against it. Anyway, those are my thoughts.

yeah, if allie had been married when she slept with noah, the story wouldn't be so sweet and innocent and beautiful. it would just read like a trashy love novel.

Yeah I believe it would be wrong, and would have ruined the movie.
